Blog Journal #5

Hello again! I originally started using Twitter in 2020 when COVID-19 hit and I was bored at home. I originally did not understand fully the concept of Twitter but found it interesting once I followed more and more people. Once I started to use Twitter more and more I realized how great of an app Twitter is and how useful it was to get information. I started following my friends and family and then started following other Twitter accounts so I could get information and news quicker than I usually would. In my future career, I hope to become a teacher and I feel that I can definitely use Twitter in my future career. I can use Twitter in my future career by staying informed about the teaching world around me, and even seeing other resources teachers share online. I can also read on teachers' experiences in the classroom to see what does and does not work for them.

The digital divide has two different sides one side people have access to technology and on the other side are people who do not have access to technology. This can affect students' success in the classroom if they don't have access to technology at home. This can limit a student's ability to have active communication with peers in their classroom, it can limit their ability to complete certain assignments, and even limit those students to learning resources. Some causes of the digital divide are the costs of having technology at home, and even income issues. As a teacher, I may face these issues with students not having technology in their homes. I definitely will try to make teaching assignments that won't require technology outside of the classroom. I will have the students use technology inside the classroom if it is needed to complete certain assignments. I will also ask the parents at the beginning of the year if they have technology at home and if they don't I will work one on one with them to figure out other possible solutions.

Academic software that I will definitely be implementing in my classroom would be Kahoot and Nearpod. Kahoot is an interactive survey website that teachers have used throughout my middle school, high school, and even college career. I always enjoyed when teachers used Kahoot in class because it is a great way to review the material that has been taught to us and it was always fun to see everyone around me excited to learn.  Another academic software that I plan on using in my classroom is Nearpod. Nearpod is a great tool for interactive online learning because it allows teachers to create interactive lessons, learning videos, and even go on virtual field trips.
