Blog Journal #8

 Hello again! I found working on the web design assignment overall fun. I now have new skills such as using Google Sites and using an embedded calendar. I had no idea what both of those were before starting my assignment. I also found it interesting creating a creative commons for the website, I felt like creating one was useful information for my future career as a teacher. I feel it is very common now for teachers to create class websites and I definitely see myself doing it in the future. It is a great way for parents to see announcements, a quick way for them to learn about me, have my contact information, and see what their children are up to.

Diigo has taught me several valuable skills, but one of the most significant is providing me with a strong foundation for conducting research.  This tool can be useful in my future classroom by creating accounts for my students as well. Having my students create accounts will be a good way for them to see certain content and resources that I would like to share with them. 

It is clear now that when becoming a teacher, you must also be pretty technologically savvy. Technology is used all throughout the classroom and is even being taught for students to use. It is being taught to our students because it is a part of daily life. I feel it is important for teachers to be constantly involved in professional development to make sure they are up to date with the newest technological trends. I feel that a good website that keeps teachers updated with the educational world would be EdSurge. EdSurge is a website that provides research, articles, reviews, and even resources for teachers to use. It gives teachers valuable insights into what is happening in the technological world in other classrooms. It is also for teachers who teach grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
